How To Keep Your Skin Hydrated

Give your skin some h2o with these handy hacks
How To Keep Your Skin Hydrated

A dull complexion that lingers no matter how much concealer, highlighter and blush you apply is the definition of ‘I can’t even’.

The most likely cause of a complexion that has seen better days is dehydration. Our skin is pretty much the same as us, it operates (and looks) better when hydrated.

Thirsty skin not only loses its ‘lit from within glow’, it also feels drier than the Sahara Desert. There’s nothing cute about lacklustre skin. Thankfully, there’s a heap of super easy ways to keep your skin hydrated from the inside out and we’re here to help a babe or two out. Ready for glowing, hydrated skin everyday? Let's go!

Cut your shower time

We hate to be the bearer of bad news but your hot shower might be doing more harm than good for your skin. Spending too much time under hot water can actually strip your skin of much needed moisture. The hotter the water is, the more damage you’re doing to your skin's natural oils. Considering these oils are what keeps our skin supple, soft and hydrated, this is not ideal at all. It’s time to start keeping showers short and warm, babes.

Moisturise to damp skin

Every babe knows that moisturised skin results in hydrated and happy skin. Although, you could be applying your moisturiser wrong. Yes, there is a method to getting the most out of your moisturiser. By applying your fave moisturiser to damp skin as soon as you get out of the shower, your skin will lock in hydration more so than applying to dry skin. The steam from the shower opens your pores so your skin can drink up your moisturiser. On the hunt for the perfect everyday moisturiser? Our Luxe Moisturising Lotion is full of antioxidants and nourishing oils to hydrate your skin year long.

Spritz and glow

Parched skin isn’t something any babe should have to put up with. Give your face and body some much needed relief by spritzing your skin with a hydrating mist. Mists are the perfect way to instantly refresh and hydrate the skin while you’re on the go. It’s also a lot quicker than piling on layers of moisturiser if you’re in a rush to get out the door. Our top pick for a quick spritz is of course our Hydrating Face and Body Mist, it contains cucumber extract and super soothing rosewater which help to lock in moisture and quench dehydrated skin.

Use a hydrating Self Tan

We’re all about keeping those summer vibes rolling all year round. We rely on a good fake tan to get us through winter like we rely on a good faux fur jacket. Bad news is, some fake tans can be extremely dehydrating for our skin. Luckily Bali Body has your (tanned) back. Our Self Tanning Mousse is unlike any other self tan you'll find on a supermarket shelf. It’s filled with super hydrating ingredients such as coffee seed and pomegranate extract which will leave your skin smooth and soft while you glow.

Don’t give up the razor

When the cooler weather comes by many of us tend to put our shaving routine on hiatus. Surprisingly, it’s more important than ever to make your shaver a friend not foe. Shaving doesn't just remove unwanted hair, it also gently exfoliates the skin to remove dead skin cells from the surface of the skin. This means your skincare essentials can sink deeper into your skin to provide serious hydration. We also recommend using a razor that has a flexible moisturising bar to help achieve that silky, smooth skin feeling.

Humidify your home

Dry air results in dry skin. Air Conditioners and heaters work wonders to keep your body temperature happy but neither do great things for our skin. By placing an air humidifier in the room you spend most time, aka your bedroom watching Netflix, you’ll increase moisture in the air. This will help the skin's barrier stay hydrated and moisturised, especially in the cooler months. Your skin will thank you in the morning, babe.
